2nd Pittsburgh Christian Muslim Tea Forum

The second Christian Muslim Tea Forum was held in Pittsburgh, PA at the Allegheny Center Alliance Church (ACAC).        12 Pittsburgh Evangelical Churches were represented as well as a local student ministry: PRISM (Pittsburgh Regional International Student Ministry) and several local Christian organizations. Mosques from each geographic area of the city were also present. The Alam Strategy Group was a cosponsor along with the George Washington Amity Series. 
  • Tunch Ilkin opened with a reading from the Gospel and a prayer.
  • Imam Abdul Aziz Suraqah, of the Muslim Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh (MCCGP) in Monroeville, gave a reading from the Quran along with a translation into English.
  • Rev. Rich Noble gave a welcome from host Allegheny Center Alliance Church.
  • Efty Alam, of Alam Strategy Group, then introduced several special guests:​
    • Anwar Khan, President of Islamic Relief USA, presented his organization and work with Evangelicals.
    • Bishop Paul Murray, VP of the Global Peace Foundation, presented his interfaith work.
    • Rev. David Poeking of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh presented a Catholic perspective.
    • Cameron Quinn from the Department of Homeland Security explained the work of the Office of Civil Liberties as well as support they provide to houses of worship.
  • Jack Rusenko closed the first portion of the program with a talk entitled "Understanding Evangelicals" and introduced the small group interaction between the Christian and Muslim leaders. The feedback was positive and a follow up meeting is planned for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
